My Soundtracks of Life
by Shelly Graham
Greetings and salutations, readers!!
Last night, I was given the opportunity to hear and watch two great bands at Harrah’s Stir Concert Cove, Tesla and Candlebox. Mind you, I have never experienced these bands live with their thunder. Although, I did buy everything they put out and added it to my own personal life soundtracks. Now I must express what I witnessed last night. Candlebox walked on stage and people started cheering, including me! Ahhahaha! The introduction theme was a radio station, changing channels to different grunge bands, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees and then of course Candlebox. Candlebox was tuned in and from there the energy was amazing and you would have thought a bunch of teenagers were playing, not once thinking these guys had been around for 30 years. They were absolutely tight and energized. Martin’s voice was powerful!! Obviously, the crowd was happy with several hit songs and with sympathy for Iowa’s flooding, the crowd gave way to cheers and the energy boosted even more. Thank you, Kevin Martin, and Candlebox for your sympathy and talent.
Now for Tesla..... I chuckle as I am writing this because what else do you expect from a rock band named Tesla?!!! Yes, in deedy, a pun!! They were electrifying!! Pure excellence and Jeff Keith hit it like it’s no big deal!! Complete music pimps! I am just amazed with these two bands, so happy I finally got to experience the thunder. Two bands from different eras, one night and they brought back so many memories. I don’t know these guys personally, but that doesn’t mean I can’t say that I love them for helping me and others along life’s rocky road or thank them for working hard to bring us enjoyment with their talent, because anyone who knows what it’s like to play in an actual touring band, knows it’s a hard life and not easy. To all the musicians out there, young and old. Do not stop, don’t give up. Because, there is someone out there that loves what you create, and I guarantee you have helped some one’s life along the way.
